Summary: Every time the plants go berserk, it's either a horrific experience or an absolute laughing stock. In this case, it's some of the former, and a bit of the latter. If only because of the effects budget being so tiny.

History: Somewhere in the northern parts of South America, there is an ancient knife somewhere in the ruins of a forgotten civilization. But in truth, the natives are still around, and they must offer sacrifices to a great mandrake lurking in the woods. Only human blood can keep it satiated, especially when that knife is taken away by explorers.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After a couple guys have an intense scuffle, the fully-revealed mandrake is stopped when the knife is plunged into a man's heart. With blade in body, the mandrake is petrified into a tree-like structure.

Powers/Abilities: Its vines can pop up anywhere in the jungle. It's also near-invincible.

Weakness: By keeping the knife in a human body, the mandrake cannot move.

Scariness Factor: 2.5-The CGI on this creature is somehow below Syfy standards, especially when it's painfully obvious how much of a greenscreen it is while the humans are in front. But for what it's worth, it has the element of surprise with its many vines, and its monstrous true form's got a damn human eye in it.

Trivia: -Mandrakes did NOT come from South American mythology. They are European beings of folklore that get their name from the name of the roots of plants within the mandragora genus. Because the roots often look like a pair of legs, people used to think they were living creatures, or ingredients in magic spells.

-That being said, conquistadores brought the mandrake root to the Americas when they set out for the New World. Surprisingly, the plant adapted well.
